This Scares Me

Sure, who needs human rights when there are terrorists, sorry, alleged terrorists to illegally detain and deny rights to?

From iWon's Survey today.
Britain's highest court yesterday ruled that foreign terror suspects cannot be detained indefinitely without trial. Lawyers for a group of foreign men now held without charge in the UK claim their clients' detention is a violation of human rights. According to AP, "The British government had argued that the detention without charge of some terrorist suspects is a tough but necessary measure to protect a free society from the threat of devastating attacks." (Related AP article)

Do you agree or disagree with the British court's ruling?
36% - Agree - detaining terror suspects indefinitely without charge is a violation of human rights
45% - Disagree - detaining terror suspects indefinitely without charge is necessary to protect a free society
17% - I'm not sure
2% - I don't care

Let's be clear, a majority of people favor illegally detaining suspected terrorists, denying them their human rights and that's okay with most people responding to the survey.

Sorry but if you're willing to give away even more of your supposedly inalienable rights then you're a fucking fool.

Now Why Would Those Ungrateful Soldiers Be Angry?

Bush, Rumsfeld Try to Soothe Angry U.S. Troops. They wouldn't be angry because they were sent to war on a lie, with inadequate equipment (blamed on the Democrats, I'm sure) and the never ending cycle of stop-loss molestations.

Why would they be angry? Don't they know that they are helping to spread freedom (in Bush speak I think freedom means colonization)?

What we've got in Iraq are some greedheaded dickwads chasing more and more money while committing a nation to a long term occupation of a sovereign nation that we turned upside down because of lies.

And now our troops (the most powerful military force in the history of the world) needs to salvage metal to better protect themselves? Shame on you George W. Bush, shame on you Donald Rumsfeld. Shame on all of you eager warhawk fucks who rushed to war knowing full well that it was a lie and all you greedy fucks wanted was the oil.

How soon until we have soldiers openly revolting?

Is it any wonder that the European Union is basically telling the US to get stuffed when we ask and ask again for help now? After, you know, telling them to go fuck themselves at the start of the war and that we didn't need their help? Now they're holding us to it and the body count just keeps going up.

These "leaders" are crooks. Our president has so many conflicts of interest in all of this that he has no objectivity. He's gaming the nation along with his cronies who are getting richer with each moment.

This isn't a war about terrorism, its a war about money and oil. And the soldiers are starting to realize that they were, along with the rest of the nation, sold an empty promise.

Too Injured to Fight More, Kicked to the Curb, Homeless Iraq War Vets

I say shame on George W. Bush and Dick Cheney for their "running" of the war. When articles like this, Homeless Iraq vets showing up at shelters are already showing up, its pretty easy to tell that these warduck bitches didn't plan properly, are in deep over their heads now and don't know how to swim or even ask for help.

And who suffers? Vets? That seems just incredibly unfair.

And why aren't they being stop-lossed back to Iraq? Because the nature of their injuries mean that they can no longer perform their duties. So the military gives them a bandaid and discharges them.

How truly pathetic of this country to already be kicking our vets into the curb.

Corruption? Super Size It Please

Former Bush Campaign Official Indicted but the election was totally fair and completely totally legitimate and everything.

Aside from all those funky voter record anamolies, discarded ballots, broken machines and other shenanigans. I'm sure that all of those anamolies wouldn't add up to Bush not winning, no way.

And its funny, the Ukrainian election was cast into the trash for less than what went wrong here.

Why do I get the feeling that the rest of the world looks upon our nation as that idiot kid who keeps eating his boogers and thinking they are gummi bears?

Soldiers Challenge Enlistment Extensions

But there won't be a draft, oh no, they'll come up with a nice new word for it. Soldiers Challenge Enlistment Extensions because they figure that they signed up for a specific period of service that's already been extended. Now they want to come home and be with their families but the military's trying to send them back into the war because not enough people are signing up to replace them.

Go figure that the military is having trouble getting recruits given the nature of the war, the brutality of the enemy and the extremely high likelihood of spending alot more time in a warzone than agreed upon.

Nice work, Bush. Conscription by any other name is still a draft, dumbass.

Shop Your Party, Choose Blue

Are you worried that the stores you like to shop in aren't aligned with your political interests? Pop their name into Choose the Blue and the cool DB will let you know where their political contributions went.

Sad to say that Target is in the Red with 72% of contributions going to the GOP and I guess that means I'm going to no longer be patronizing them with my business. CostCo however is a strong Democratic supporter with 98% of donations going to the Blue.

As the site says "If each American who voted for John Kerry spends $100 in 2005 on a Blue company instead of a Red company, we can move $5 Billion away from Republican companies and add $5 Billion to the income of companies who donate to Democrats."

U.S. Knew of Suspected Iraq Abuse in 2003

The only thing that is news here, U.S. Knew of Suspected Iraq Abuse in 2003, is that its in the news. Anyone who thought the powers that be didn't know prisoners were being tortured is deluding themselves.

Soldiers do not, as a general rule, take to wantonly disregarding international laws on the care and keeping of POW's (like, hey, reporting that you have them! or not using them as punching bags).

Lynndie England, Sabrina Harmon, you were but fodder so that the real culprits could wash their hands of the whole affair. Then again, no one made you pose for all those pictures, did they? That was just stupid.

And So It Begins

With another possibly stolen election more or less safely secured, Bush is getting ready to Boost Troop Presence in Iraq to 150,000. But there won't be a draft, oh no, they are just going to extend deployments of soldiers who have already been there longer than they agreed to.

If this were a private corporation mistreating our troops then we would sue them, what do you do when the abuser is your own president?

And I'm sure troop morale won't be a problem at all, they'll just make complaining about it illegal and that'll be the end of it, I'm sure. Nice work, Mr. War President who never went to war and used his connections stay out of war so he could get drunk and bang lonely girlfriends of GI's.
