I have been reading Rotten's bio of George W Bush as a result of a conversation on MetaFilter and have come across some interesting information about Dubya.
He has been bailed out time and again by family and family friends to keep from cratering company after company after company because, well, he's a terribly stupid businessman.
Go read it and learn more about the man 51% of this country re-elected to run things. Why? He's a proven failure and he's been a truly horrifically bad president.

Tucker Carlson: DOA and Still a Dick
You know, the best thing that could have happened to an asshat like Tucker Carlson was to have a well known funny guy like Jon Stewart rip him a fresh one on Crossfire many months ago.
Not that it made him a better person or anything to be called out publicly for being part of the problem when he was in a unique situation to be part of the solution. No, because Jon Stewart's words carry alot of weight in the 18-30 year old demographic (and beyond since I'm in the next demo up).
The only problem is Stewart ripped him up. Carlson got tossed from CNN and wound up on MSNBC where his new show has done nothing but come in dead last. It couldn't be that ridiculous bowtie, could it? Nah. It doesn't help but the bowtie's the least of Carlson's problems. The main thing wrong with the guy is he's an asshole and an idiot. He also looks like that frat brother who really gets off on shoving his pledge board where it shouldn't go. In other words, he looks like an asshole, sounds like an asshole and speaks like an asshole.
Gee, I wonder why his little show's not doing better. Maybe if they could get people to agree to appear on the show, it would be better but probably not.

Kill the messenger
Whistleblowers and cover-ups via SourceWatch examines how people who do not swallow their honor, pride and dignity and toe the party line when it comes to agreeing with the Bush administration.
Hint, they aren't treated well at all when they are and should be lauded as extremely courageous people, maybe they are even heroes, for standing up for what they know is right.
The Bush regime denigrates whistleblowers and gives medals and promotions to "good soldiers" who speak what they're told to speak.
That ShrubCo smears good people routinely isn't news but it really does explain alot of my contempt for these people. They are not operating with my best interests in mind or even my interests. They could give a damn about my interests because they're too busy making themselves and their buddies ridiculously filthy rich.

Oops, Security Leak? Mrs. Rove be Thy Name
Karl canned?
White House sources reveal that the wife of top presidential adviser Karl Rove has been discovered to pose a serious national security risk because of massive debts that she has run up over the years – some from her penchant for the ponies, some from her long-standing addiction to Oxycontin.
Which is, all a lie and made up and done to prove a point. The journalist never actually says her name but pretty much paints a very clear picture of who she's talking about. And her point is that Rove is trying to wriggle off the hook because he didn't actually speak Valerie Plame's name he thinks, actually hopes, that he can avoid punishment. But that's bullshit and stupid and specious logic.
Nice article, especially because it pulls no punches in its accurate description of the current regime's relationship to the truth (they used to room together in college but haven't stayed in touch since then).
The Bush administration is all about posturing, false outrage and spin, spin, spin. Keep spewing so many different stories as to dilute the real ones so that the majority of people can't be bothered to ferret out the truth. Its a smart tactic but its a dishonorable one too.

Lowering the Bar
How's about making it easier for your multi-chinned asshat advisor to escape losing his job for outing a CIA agent? Oh, not like anyone didn't expect this to happen but its nice to know that Bush retreated from his strong stance against firing anyone involved in the Plame outing to anyone who committed a crime.
Bush qualifies pledge to fire CIA leaker. Which basically just goes to show that George Bush is a fucking liar. He's protecting his friends who have been shown to be deeply involved in the outing of a covert CIA agent during a war. And let's not forget that Bush still has yet to capture, try, convict and execute Osama bin Laden, the real mind behind the 9/11 attacks, NOT Saddam Hussein who they would love you to believe masterminded the attacks of 9/11. But he didn't, had nothing to do with it and yet, he's held in prison and Osama is still free to run around causing trouble.
But that's okay because our president has a long standing business partnership with his the bin Laden family so he's probably doing them a favor by not killing Osama. Even though its pretty clear Osama murdered more than 3000 Americans. But I guess money and business is more important than ethics, the security of a nation and honesty.
By the way, Karl Rove should resign if he had even a mote of honor to him. But he doesn't and won't because he's yet another asshat hawk GOP bag of shit in a skin sack.

Treasongate: Response to GOP talking points
With the GOP spin machine running at top speed right now, there are an increasingly complex web of lies and mistruths being seeded to try and muddy the bloody water surrounding Karl Rove's apparently treasonous actions in outing Valerie Plame to Robert Novak.
Please go and read The Left Coaster: Response to GOP talking points to get a real sense of the reality of the charges Rove faces for his actions. At the very least, he should be suspended from work and have his security clearances suspended until the investigation is complete. That's at the very least.
It appears more and more that Karl Rove committed high treason in outing Valerie Plame. During a time of war he willfully underminded US security by weakening the CIA's ability to operate covertly.
That he still has access to the President and the White House and top secret information is absolutely ridiculous and shows just how partial and truly untrustworthy this administration is.

Scotty Mack Unanswers Some Questions He Answered about Karl Rove
A Grilling at the White House in which Scott McClellan, the figurehead liar out front for the Bush Regime, gets skewered again and again by the press who, apparently, brough their extra big set of balls to work today.
McClellan is being questioned about statements he made back when Plame, the CIA agent, was originally outed and officially crossed off Rove as a possible suspect in the case. Woops.
Not that I really expect Rove to hang or even get fired for his treason, its just not Bush's way to punish the guilty, only the poor.

This Just In, Jeb Buys a Clue
Governor Bush gives up pursuit of Schiavo case only a good month or two after everyone else moved on to bigger (Natalee Holloway) and better (TomKat) things (Hurricane Dennis).
But then, you can always tell a Bush, you just can't tell 'em much.
But you know what? I'd still trade our Austrian meathead for him. At least Jeb can say California instead of Cally-Four-Niya like the Gropinator does. And I bet he'd still alot less from our schools than Arnold did too.

Iraq War Casualties Map
Want a graphic representation of all of the deaths in Iraq that George W. Bush is personally responsible for? Click thee to the Iraq War Casualties Map and follow the timeline as the little black figures overwhelm and obscure the entire nation very quickly.
Sad, avoidable and still based on a lie.
Don't blame me, I didn't vote for him.

The Tower of World Trade Babble

Ever notice how Shrubya retreats back to his safe zone whenever he's asked a question that might expose him as a lying sack of shit? Yep, he climbs right back up to the top of the World Trade Center and pretty effectively ends any further inquiry. Because it would be rude to the thousands of dead to question his intent based on their memory.
Which is, as any sentient creature knows, complete and utter bullshit. George Bush's repeated use of the tragedy of 9/11 for his own political ends is wrong. Saddam Hussein did not orchestrate 9/11, Osama bin Laden did and yet we are deeply, deeply entrenched in a war in Iraq while bin Laden is free to plan further attacks against our nation.
One of these days, that fargin' tower will collapse under his bulk and will, hopefully, crush him on the way down.

O'Connor Resigns, World Trembles
Justice O'Connor to Resign and this bodes very bad things for those of us in the Bush-is-a-friggin-lunatic camp. He could and likely will nominate someone so thoroughly reprehensible that the Democrats will have to expend alot of energy to fight them.
And with Rehnquist on the way out as well, we are seriously facing a dangerous paradigm shift in the fundamental nature of judicial power in this country.
I might hope, if someone other than Bush were in charge, that there would be some real thought and consideration to get the best candidate for the position into the court. But there are no hopes with Bush, there are only long, sad sighs and fury.
I will hope that the country remembers what an abysmally shitty job Bush has done in office, about how he led a nation and its allies into a war based on intelligence he knew to be false, how he has given tax break after tax break to his pals while making legislation with great names and not enough funding, that he's seen the greatest budget surplus so very quickly turned into the worst budget deficit in our country's history, that people will remember his lies (Saddam had nothing to do with 9/11 and the guy who did have everything to do with it is STILL RUNNING FREE!).
Today marks the end of the first half of 2005. With each notch passing on the calendar, we get closer to ousting this fool from Crawford and, hopefully, closer to opening up criminal proceedings against him.
