Karl canned?
White House sources reveal that the wife of top presidential adviser Karl Rove has been discovered to pose a serious national security risk because of massive debts that she has run up over the years – some from her penchant for the ponies, some from her long-standing addiction to Oxycontin.
Which is, all a lie and made up and done to prove a point. The journalist never actually says her name but pretty much paints a very clear picture of who she's talking about. And her point is that Rove is trying to wriggle off the hook because he didn't actually speak Valerie Plame's name he thinks, actually hopes, that he can avoid punishment. But that's bullshit and stupid and specious logic.
Nice article, especially because it pulls no punches in its accurate description of the current regime's relationship to the truth (they used to room together in college but haven't stayed in touch since then).
The Bush administration is all about posturing, false outrage and spin, spin, spin. Keep spewing so many different stories as to dilute the real ones so that the majority of people can't be bothered to ferret out the truth. Its a smart tactic but its a dishonorable one too.
