The woman killed for pop music - Times Online
This is the story of someone who did not get in line and do what everyone else was doing. Shaima Reyazee was a veejay for Kabul's version of MTV, she played pop music and represented a new concept of existence to a whole generation of young Afghan women.
She was fired from her position as veejay for "unIslamic values" and then, this week, she was shot dead in her home by an unknown assailant. Most likely because of her beliefs and because of what she represents to the Afghan people and the women in particular.
This is one serious woman-hatin' society when they murder one who won't kow tow and be all subservient to the men.
The world's changing but the only problem is that sometimes it feels like the world is going backwards with more religion, more intolerance, more violence and less communication.
We can do better, we should do better. There's plenty of space for us all if only people would get their heads out of their asses and realize that there is no one right way to live.
