Iraqi Election Google News
One suicide bomber with the chest bomb so far. I'm not hoping for violence but, like everyone else, I'm expecting something notable. And yes, I am aware of the irony in saying something notable and having just written of a suicide bomber. But really, in an age of double digit death tolls not being unusual, one bomber killing one and wounding a few others isn't especially notable.
Its a crazy situation for Iraq right now, consider the candidates, consider that these people have just put HUGE targets on their and their family's and their family's friends backs. The security is tight and taut like a drum, one gets the sense that a possible outbreak would be met with an overwhelming response.
It will be a difficult and tense day the world over. I would imagine that there is a heightened security presence in this country as well as Iraq and other places. Because our attention might be focused elsewhere, it seems that a terrorist incident here might be more likely to succeed.
Living in this day and age and being required to consider numerous chess boards in varying positions, varying places and with varying consequences. I don't envy this administration, I don't admire them in anyway and I think they'll continue to embarrass us (nice jacket Dick!, you speakerate so well, Mr. Bush) but they do face a pretty daunting tidal wave of information, moves, counter moves and all kinds of other aspects to constantly monitor and consider.
Oh yeah, and still make sure that their pals are making mad, mad, mad bank off of this whole sordid debacle of an affair.
