Back in 2001, there was a mandate (a real one) to the American car makers to develop a car that got 80 mpg and could be put into production within a few years. But the Bush Administration Abandons Deadline for 80 mpg 'Supercars' (from May 2001).
And, in the light of history, it made sense to keep us all on the oil teat. How else could he continue to make billions for his oil pals?
Me? I want a car that can go fast and not pollute, we were well on our way towards that goal and the eventual weaning of our nation and the planet off the stuff they call crude.
More pie on your face, Mr. Bush?
