Bringing Down Another Asshole GOPerative

Faith in human nature maybe on the rebound after checking today's iWon survey about: Should DeLay Stay?

Nearly half the respondents believe he should step down and that's a good thing. Strange. Wasn't the margin of Bush's victory, 51% to 48%? Maybe those same 48% are also calling loudly for DeLay's resignation and possible prosecution for gross ethical violations.

Embattled House Majority Leader Tom DeLay faced new criticism this past weekend from fellow Republicans who believe his continuing ethics problems are harming the GOP. DeLay (R-Texas) has been dogged in recent months by reports of possible ethics violations regarding his overseas travel, campaign payments to family members and connections to lobbyists who are under investigation. He was admonished three times last year by the House Ethics Committee. A liberal group ran broadcast ads calling on DeLay to resign in late March.
Do you believe that Tom DeLay should resign from office?
48% - Yes
19% - No, but he should step down as House Majority Leader
11% - No, and he should remain in his current leadership role
21% - I'm not sure

Nice work, America. Nice to know you'll only take so many incredibly overt ethical transgressions before making an asshole retire (not get fired or impeached because that would mess with his pension plan, remember Bob Packwood? he resigned to make sure he got those fat pension checks even though he was patently guilty of sexual harassment).
